THE 2026 EUROPEAN TREE OF THE YEAR COMPETITION
The impressive Laukių Oak from Rukai (Skuodas District), winner of the 2025 Lithuanian Tree of the Year title, begins its journey toward the 2026 European Tree of the Year title. This competition can safely be called the “Eurovision” of European trees.
This year, 12 trees of the most diverse kinds from the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, Croatia, Latvia, Poland, the Netherlands, Portugal, France, Slovakia, Hungary, Ukraine, and Lithuania will compete in the European Tree of the Year competition.
The aim of the European Tree of the Year competition is to draw attention to the importance of trees for our natural and cultural heritage, which must be cared for and protected.
