According to the director of the State Service for Protected Areas Albertas Stanislovaitis, perhaps a little support, but also this small initiative will help Ukrainians (and especially children) to feel safer and better acquainted with it in our country. More opportunities are being sought to help refugees from Ukraine - they will be accommodated in nature schools in protected areas.
Almost every national and regional park and reserve in Lithuania has visitor centers - places where people can get acquainted with the values of protected areas and find out what is protected and why. During the educational activities, the visitor centers provide interesting information about the protected areas of our country, their uniqueness and visiting opportunities.
There are 5 national, 30 regional parks and more than 400 nature reserves in Lithuania. Visitor centers are located near the national and regional park and reserve directorates.
Ukrainian refugees fleeing the war, as well as Ukrainian citizens, will now be able to visit protected areas and free tours free of charge. The staff of all protected areas directorates are very excited about the current situation in Ukraine and are determined to provide all possible assistance and support to the neighboring Ukrainians.
