Rambynas regional park

EXCLUSIVE VALUE OF THE REGIONAL PARK

A small, however, very interesting park. It has been established to protect the landscape of the Nemunas valley fragment with the famous Rambynas Hill, Ragainė curve, the confluence of the Jūra and Nemunas Rivers with plenty of small oxbow lakes. A special accent to the landscape is the steep Nemunas slope at the turn of the valley – the Rambynas Hill which became an important lan dmark for travellers. It has also been a site of special mythological and symbolic significance – an important ancient sacred place. The pantheon of the Lithuania Minor – Bitėnai cemetery where fa mous Lithuanian figures, such as Vydūnas, Martynas Jankus, etc. rest in peace. Here, the stories about book smugglers are still alive. The park also has a colony of the protected White Stork (Ciconia ciconia). Only here grows the Hedge hyssop (Gratiola officinalis).
