EXCLUSIVE VALUE OF THE REGIONAL PARK
An especially valuable lake collection of the upper reaches of Šventoji with the Dūkštas, Luodis, and Šventas Lakes. The most remarkable highlight is the Antalieptė Lagoon with its abundant bays, peninsulas and neck formations of unimaginable beauty. The spectacular self-containing and crystal clear Šventas Lake is the largest natural barometer in Lithuania. Only in this lake, one can find Myriophyllum alterniflorum. The stream of Šavaša reminds of a mountain spring. The areas that are not affected by human activity are characterised by an enormous diversity of plants and animals. Biocoenoses of the Gražutė forest are especially valuable. The town of Salakas boasts the highest church (72 m) built from Lithuanian ashlar.
