EXCLUSIVE VALUE OF THE REGIONAL PARK
It is a regional park of geological heritage – a landscape that has been formed by open karst and karstic suffosion processes with thousands of sinkholes, failures, and lakelets. Each year new sinkholes open up in this region. The largest and most interesting sinkhole is called the “Cow’s Cave”. The mysterious Kirkilai and Drąseikiai Lakelets turning their color into red is a unique and very rare phenomenon in the world. In this park, there are one of this kind in Lithuania bastion type Biržai cast le, the longest bridge across the first artificial lake in Lithuania Širvėna Lake, the unique Astravas manor and park architec tural ensemble with the Širvėna Lake historical hydro-system casing. Directly related to the karst landscape of the region are the brewery traditions.
