EXCLUSIVE VALUE OF THE REGIONAL PARK

The regional park is distinguished for its cultural heritage treasures that are related to Lithuania’s history, the lives of Lithuania’s literary greats, and for its originality and wealth of protected values. It is a regional park rich with river valleys, old glacial valleys and lakes, forests, and distinctive cultural landscape. The exceptional Šventoji River valley with oxbow lakes, erosional remnants and gullies, the Kurkliai erosional cirque, the Anykščiai pine forest with the Šventoji River flooded grasslands and the Budragaidis quaking bog type lakelet, the Rubikiai – Mūšėjai Lakes‘ region with lots of islands, the old glacial valleys of the Anykšta and Virinta Rivers, and the Storiai watershed morainic massif, and abundant mounds. The values of Anykščiai region has been made famous by well-known greats of the classic Lithuanian literature, and Anykščiai pine forest exalted by Antanas Baranauskas has become the symbol of the Lithuanian forests. Only here, you can visit the Horse Museum, take a trip with the narrow gauge railway, and see how the quartz sand looks like.
