VISITING STATE NATIONAL AND REGIONAL PARKS DURING QUARANTINE PERIOD - SAFETY FIRST

The government has taken restrictions to manage the threats posed by the spread of the new coronavirus (COVID-19). In parks and other popular places of interest, people should walk no more than two and avoid direct contact with others. Also it is highly recomendet to stay at home during the quarantine period.

Such a decision was made on March 19 and signed by State-level Emergency Operations Manager, Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga.

Visitors in parks and other open public spaces are obliged to maintain a safe distance of 2 meters and to avoid direct physical contact.

There are many attractions in state national and regional parks that people like - cognitive trails, observation towers, sightseeing, recreation areas. Especially in the spring, when nature wakes up, large flows of visitors are possible.

According to Albertas Stanislovaitis the director of the State Service for Protected Areas, the most popular observation towers will be closed during the quarantine period.

The state park directorates have been informed about the Government's decision and will provide information to visitors. The directorates will post warning sign in the most popular places of interest in protected areas.

It is important to be wise and careful, and best of all, to stay at home for the ultimate chance of the coronavirus spreading.
