In the pools of the Lithuanian Maritime Museum, pups of Baltic gray seals brought weak and sick from the sea in the spring are recovering fast. As many as 22 of them were found this year, 3 of them were unfortunately not saved by the museum specialists.

The administration of Kaunas Lagoon Regional Park has started to carry out the inventory of wintering bats in the territories designated for the protection of these mammals, mainly in the forts of Kaunas Fortress. These forts have long been recognized as one of the most important bat wintering grounds in Lithuania and are included in the Natura 2000 network of protected areas of international importance.

We would like to inform you that as of September 13, 2021, the procedure for providing some services to the State Service for Protected Areas and the National Visitors' Center of Protected Areas will change in connection with the requirement established by the Government of Lithuania to have a national certificate (“Galimybių pasas”).

This year, close to 200 thousand EUR. have already been allocated for conservation in nature protected areas. from the Environmental Support Program (ESP). The main revenue of this program consists of funds recovered for damage to the environment and nature, received from fines paid for environmental violations, etc.

Labanoras Regional Park has a unique peninsula that separates two lakes - White Lakajai and Black Lakajai. This exceptional natural place will be newly adapted for visiting this summer under the project “Protection and Adaptation of Landscape Values” initiated by the State Service for Protected Areas under the Ministry of Environment.
